Hi

I've been using 12Pay for a year now so can do all the basics with no problem.

I've got my first employee on maternity leave since starting with this software. I've followed the advice on here and set up the absence period, put in the due date and date baby was born.

I thought I'd have a go at running month 8 payroll (not due til end of the month but wanted to practice) and it is showing the whole amount of SMP for all 39 weeks in the first month - £4,694!! Obviously something has gone disatrously wrong (with my input not the software). I've checked the dates again - def end date of next year. I thought the software should calculate the SMP a week/month at a time.

Can you think of anything else I need to check? I've got til the end of the month to sort this out.

Thanks

Michelle

PS this is the comment from the Absence Entry

EWC_SUN=25/10/2009, EWC_SAT=31/10/2009, QW_SUN=12/07/2009, QW_SAT=18/07/2009
Calculating average NI earnings for 8 weeks prior to 19/07/2009
Average Earnings Sum: 05/07/2009=£628.13 05/06/2009=£531.05
Total NI Earnings = £1,159.18
Average weekly earnings truncates to: 133.75153
Calc Stage 5: Average earnings = 133.75153
Baby born after notified leave start and due date>=1/4/2007 and no pregnancy related illness, so SMP may start on notified leave start: 26/10/2009

You're nearly there. You just need to:

  • Go to the absence tab
  • Edit the absence by clicking the Edit Absence button
  • Click the "Truncate to Payroll Date" box to tick it
  • You may also want to click the "Pay Part Weeks" box to tick it too

The system will then pay up to the end of each month.

Hope that helps.
