Hi 12pay Support

We have recently changed hosting for our emails and since then i cannot email my payslips i get the following error when i do a test and when i try to send the payslip:

 SMTP Status: GeneralFailure

Failure: Failure sending mail.

(Invalid length for a Base-64 char array.)

My IT department have no idea what it could be, we have double checked all the settings and cannot work it out.

Please help as its rather annoying having to send payslips manually.

Many thanks

Amanda

It is hard for us to guess what is going on. Googling that error message we found someone else who got the same error using the same Microsoft libraries that we use for sending mail... Their solution follows:

  •  I had the server, port, username and password...turns out that the username and password were unnecessary, and removing them allowed mail to go through.
  •  I don't know why passing authentication credentials to the mailserver would cause it to fail, but removing them took care of the problem...whew.
  •  I expect that the mailserver was returning a response that the mail component didn't understand, which was throwing the error.

We've also seen suggestions on the internet that with some servers an incorrect password can cause this message because the server makes an inappropriate (unexpected) response to incorrect password.
