 I can't see how to pay 4 days @ basic & i day @holiday rate. I am sure there must be a way

 Roy, On the employee's current period tab (header with the current week number and a green tick, usually) you can add any number of payments and deductions using the "Add Payment/Deduction" button.

Maybe do a deduction on BASIC of 1 day, and a payment on "Holiday Pay" of 1 day (assuming that the employee is normally paid 5 days basic per week). Or if their Basic is normally zerothen  pay them 4 days basic and 1 day holiday.
