Hi I am having a probelm when trying to process my weekly payroll and move onto the following week, each time I click the button to move to the next week I get a message on the screen that reads: 'You need a Beureau Licence after the trial period for an employer with more than 30 employers.' However I only have 21 active employees and 17 that have left and who's names are in red and their P45's have been printed. How can I resolve this problem?

Annemarie,

It depends if the leavers left in the current PAYE year or not. If they left during the current PAYE year then you'll need a bureau licence, because the limit of 30 is per PAYE year, not per processing run. You'd need a bureau licence to do the year-end filing of more than 30 employees.

But if they left in a past PAYE year that you've already filed online then you can remove them.

  1. Create a new payroll in the employer file
  2. Drag the unwanted employees to the new payroll
  3. Once they're all in the new payroll you can delete it in its entirety (click the red button at the top of the form)

Thanks for the advice, I don't understand why this message has only com up this week though? we have had the same number of active and in-active employees since about January and have been able to process the payroll since then up until now. Can you explain why this is please.

Annemarie

Probably because you've recently upgraded from a version of the software that wasn't performing the check to the current release, which does perform the check.
