Hi there,

Firstly, thanks for your help with my previous issues. They are always prompt and helpful. Cheers.

I took an emloyee on in September 2009. This was her second job and she was keeping both. As such she filled in a P46 and ticked box A. We have just increased her hours from 30 per week to 38.5 per week. She is finishing her other job and so this will be her primary and only employment. She will provide me with a P45. How do I go about changing this in 12Pay? I assume this will change the tax she has to pay etc.

I have no idea how I should go about making the inland revenue aware of this change or even if I have to?

Any ideas?

Cheers Edita.

That's twice we've had this query in the last month, and we weren't certain about the answer last time either.

I think you should contact your tax office to let them know that a long-standing employee has produced a P45 after finishing their other job. They'll tell you what to do, and we'll be interested in knowing what the answer is in that situation. We can guess, but our response would just be guesswork.

I rang the HMRC and they said simply fill in and then send part 3/page 3 of the P45 from her previouse employer (the guy didn't know which it is called) into your local tax office. They will then write to you confirming the change. He then said information regarding the method of payroll should be given by the person who made the software... Don't you just love HMRC! they are wonderful people. So helpful when they aren't sure of something :)

This queery doesn't need answering now though as that member of staff has decided she is leaving us for a job somewhere closer to where she lives. Which brings me onto my next question.. (see forum)

thanks

Edita
