Hi the hmrc website asks for total pay in this employment - i have a couple of staff who have been with me for some years. would I have to manually calculate all the pay in this employment or is there a report that will give me this information, its never been a problem before as the staff who left did so in the same year as their employment started

Kathy, the wording used by HMRC is slightly misleading. They are only ever interested in the total pay in the current tax year when they ask for pay in this employment. So no need to worry; that is exactly the information provided by 12Pay on forms like the P11/P60, and indeed on year-end documents like P35/P14.
