I have just had two employees announce they are students, after 3 months. I have given them the forms to fill out. They work part time when at school and full time on the holidys. I’ve been reading the subject on the Gov. Web site. Am I right in understanding that if they work all year they will need to pay tax (based on their earnings) all year or can they change their code to student?

I think that if they're working during term time then P38S rules don't apply. You should simply continue to treat them as normal employees and you're already doing everything correctly. (and from the way you phrase the question I think you've already worked that out too)

But this is more a tax office query than a payroll software operations query, so I might be wrong.
