I have an employee that works 16 hours a week at the NMW, and therefore doesn't earn enough to pay income tax or NI.

However, we have now realised that they need to pay NI or could miss out on pension etc. Am I right in thinking that voluntary contributions are Class 3?

If so, how do I get 12 Pay to calculate these payments?

Thanks

Hello, We've never come across this question before, and we know nothing about voluntary NI contributions.

I suggest that you talk to your tax office, but at a guess voluntary NI contributions are going to be a matter directly between your employee and HMRC, not something that you deduct from them.
