Hi all,

I run payroll for five separate companies and have encountered no problems at all over the past year or more that I have used 12Pay.  Today, though, I ran weekly payroll for one of my companies, everything went ok, as usual.  I went into the next company to run their weekly payroll but when I clicked on 'calculate pay' from the main weekly payroll screen, it froze, then the message above popped up, then it threw me out altogether.  I have tried restoring to last week and then going on from there, but it still does the same.  I have read the suggestions you have mentioned in these posts, and I have checked my computer for Spy Doctor, but I don't have it.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 12Pay and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 but still get same error.  I have tried running payroll for all my other companies and they all run correctly as they always have.

The only changes made since the last week when I processed the weekly pay is the 1.3.6 upgrade, and I have purchased a licence.  I can't understand why the others function ok but this one doesn't.  Can you help?

Carol, This is a bug that we introduced in a small change that we made in V1.3.6. THe bug only affects a very tiny minority of users, about 5 so far, so we haven't done a newsletter about it.

Basically more than one of your payment/deduction codes has an identical description. This confuses the new software. The fix is very easy, which is to alter *both* identical descriptions to something different from each othe. eg put an extra space between the words or add a full stop on the end.

Or you you use this new interim version which has already solved the problem for a couple of users:

EDIT: The odd date on this post is because we originally replied straight away on a different thread, then we moved carol's post, but we made a mistake and didn't move the replies at the same time...

We also got a reply in the original thread from Carol as follows:

IT WORKED!!!  I found 2 codes the same and changed them both slightly and this weeks run has now completed successfully.

Thanks ever so much!!!
