I am just getting started and wondered if there is a way to import employees, from an excel spreadsheet perhaps?

Yes you can, Tony, but at this time of year it is usually only worth it if you have a large number of employees because they only take about 30 seconds each to type in anyway.

You have to fill a spreadsheet with the data to be imported. There is a template of how the excel file should look in your "program files/12Pay Payroll/Help" folder. The columns can be in any order, and any columns that you want 12Pay to ignore just don't put a heading on that column. You'll see that the spreadsheet template is colour coded to help you see the different groups of information.

Once you've created your spreadsheet and put our column headings on each column to be imported you select the data, including the column headings, use Excel's "Copy" function, and then "Paste Employee Data" on the "Advanced" tab of the payroll form, to paste employees into the current payroll. If you've gone down this route and you get puzzling error messages send us the spreadsheet as an email attachment and we'll take a look.

That's really helpful and much appreciated. A much better and quicker response than I am used to from my previous software supplier.

Many thanks
