You really should consider a journal export/import facility for Quickbooks as I think it will open up a huge market for you.

We've been using QB payroll for years but moving away because of the stupid increase in costs. Over the last few years they have gone from a model where their payroll service cost about £50/yr, through to a model where they have withdrawn the annual licence recently ramped it to over £40 a *month* for what is at the end of the day a badly supported product. There must be huge number of users in the same boat.

We'll be moving to a competitive product (probably yours) over the next few months as our annual licence expires and manually transferring monthly pay data will be a pain but justifiable because of the cost difference, if we had the ability to import data into Quickbooks then it would be a no-brainer for us and probably thousands of other businesses.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Last time we looked at this issue (a couple of years ago) QB had very poor interfaces with the outside world. Now they have a number of much better choices. It looks as if we could create something called an "IIF" containing a journal entry, which can be imported into QB. We'll investigate further, and get back to you if we have some Beta software available for you to try.

If you're interested we have a Beta version of our software with a QB export now.

If you want to use it, please be aware that you will need to go to the Advanced tab of each of your payment codes, and replace the Sage nominal account numbers (eg 7000 for gross wages on the BASIC code) with appropriate QB account names (presumably something like "Gross Wages" in that case, because QB doesn't appear to deal in account codes). Once you've done that the assorted nominal reports in the software will look like the right kind of thing for QB, and you'll be ready to ask us for the Beta if you want to try the next stage.

This feature is now included in our standard download. As yet no user has tested it however, and we don't possess a copy of Quickbooks.
