You can alter the description of any of their payments on the payslip.

But there isn't any particular feature for individual payslip comments.

I asked about this in June last year, you'll find the thread in Suggestions. In February someone else also said it was a good idea.

As there are now 3 of us interested is there a possibility it will happen?

There is always a possibility when people request a feature. But all of the requested features from all of our users vie for inclusion in future releases. The more requests we get, the more likely inclusion of a particular feature gets.

Our latest release will include any line on a payslip whose description begins with a "$" sign, even where the value and hours on that line are zero. When printing this line on the payslip the "$" is removed so all you get is the text.

A nice side-effect is that any payment on the employee's Pay tab whose description begins with a "$" will appear on all payslips for that employee from then on, even if the value of that payment is zero, so basically you can use zero value payments as messages for employees now.
